Wedding band is wearing very thin at the bottom.?

It is a vintage ring and has been resized several times over the years. At this point the gold is so thin near the bottom in both width and thickness, that I’m afraid it is going to break.

Can the ring be reworked or restored to add the thickness back to the band? If so, how expensive would that be?

Thanks

that’s an easy fix, depending on if you have stones that go how far down the shank of the ring.
what will need to happen since it’s been sized several times is they will need to put a new FULL shank or HALF shank on it, this just replaces the worn down metal at the bottom on the ring.
this can be pricey depending on where you go. at my jewelry store it’s about 75 dollars, that ensures the new shank thickness and remounting of stones incase they pop during the process.

    hope that helps

I would expect it can be reworked, as to cost i have no clue you need to speak to a good jeweler.

Absolutely! Where it is so old the new part may be more noticeable because i’s not worn in like the rest of the ring. I;m not sure how much it would cost but i doubt it would be a lot.

Yes it can be. My mom’s wedding band did the same exact thing. All they do is add more to it….if im remembering correctly it wasnt all that expensive either.

you’d have to ask a jeweler and they’d have to see it in person, so no one on here can help you.

It can absolutely be restored and you’ll never know the difference. I’m guessing you’re look at top price – a couple hundred bucks.
I’d take it to a smaller family owned jeweler that designs and makes all of their own rings over a big box store like Kay or Wedding Day. I think that they have more skills at manipulating and working the raw product, rather than just brand new rings.

Agree with Caly, you will need to add half a shank (approx. 90 dollars) to a full shank (about 150).
